Ryanair announced its winter 2026 schedule from Katowice Airport on 14 October, adding three new destinations: Málaga, Naples and Turin. The winter programme covers 13 routes in total, served with three aircraft based at Katowice. Start dates and frequencies for the new routes were not included in the announcement.

For travellers in Kraków, Katowice-Pyrzowice is about 75 km away and often an alternative to Balice when fares or destinations differ.

The airline’s numbers

Ryanair says its Katowice operation represents more than US$300 million of investment. Citing a 2025 KPMG report prepared for its 20 years in Poland, the airline says it supports around 2,800 jobs in Silesia and adds more than PLN 330 million to regional GDP. These are the airline’s own figures from a press release.

Michał Kaczmarzyk, CEO of Buzz, part of the Ryanair Group, said the schedule gives Silesian passengers more choice, and the launch was backed by a three-day sale of 100,000 seats from PLN 99.

The airport’s view

Artur Tomasik, president of Górnośląskie Towarzystwo Lotnicze, which runs Katowice Airport, pointed to the airport’s wider economic role: nearly 60 companies and public institutions operate there, employing about 5,200 people — a figure the airport expects to reach 7,000 by the end of the decade.
