A nearly 4 km stretch of the S19 expressway north of Rzeszów opened as a full dual carriageway on Thursday, 15 October 2026. The section between the Sokołów Małopolski junction and Nienadówka now runs with two lanes in each direction.
The Nienadówka rest area (MOP) in the Rzeszów direction, closed since December 2024, also reopened. At 13:00 the national roads authority GDDKiA said final adjustments could take around six more hours.
Speed limit stays at 70 km/h
The 70 km/h limit on the Sokołów–Jasionka section remains in force. “To protect construction workers, we have used traffic separators and guiding signs,” GDDKiA spokesperson Joanna Rarus said.
For about two weeks, crews will remove a temporary crossover at the Sokołów junction, narrowing the carriageway and routing traffic in both directions through the outer lanes.
What is still to come
- The next stretch, between Nienadówka and Stobierna, is due to open “in the coming weeks,” GDDKiA says.
- A new viaduct is under construction at Nienadówka.
- The whole roughly 14 km Sokołów Małopolski Północ – Jasionka section is planned to be finished by the end of 2026.
The project costs PLN 355.6 million, including PLN 166.9 million from EU funds under the FEnIKS 2021–2027 programme. The S19 is Poland’s part of the Via Carpatia corridor and passes Rzeszów-Jasionka airport.
